Diary of a Cooking Addict :: A Plea for Help from Brady Fritz

cooking addict
January is flying by... so fast that my basement is still rocking the Christmas tree, full mantle, and Christmas décor look.

While trying to align schedules with my fiancé this weekend, I had a moment of panic when I realized that Valentine’s Day was only a month away. And as usual, I had nothing planned. Not even remotely.

I need help. A LOT of help. Because somewhere in that moment of panic, I told my fiancé that I would happily plan our Valentine’s Day efforts and that he need only show up to my home.

At the time I was thinking something along the lines of a wonderful, heartfelt, home-cooked meal, a nice bottle of wine or two, and an elegant dessert. We’d stay in rather than go out so that we could avoid the crowds and have more quality time together. In concept, this is exactly the type of evening that my fiance digs.

And then I realized that for my fiancé, an awesome meal means a large hunk of beef fresh off the grill.  And I don’t think I could turn on the grill if my life depended on it. The last time I tried I ended up with half of an eyebrow on one side. Bad deal.

I am begging (read: PLEADING) for some help!!!

What suggestions do you have for simple, elegant man-friendly food for a special meal?

And the other side of things – I’d love to hear about your cooking experiments gone wrong - What have you tried that I should avoid??

  1. Pasta carbonara with green salad with vinaigrette dressing. Chocolate mousse for dessert
